What a scary and exciting time for you. My husband just retired last week from the Air Force after 24 years of service. There were some very scary times, especially with the desert duty but it was worth it.
Hang in there.

My grandpa retired a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He trained at Paris Island too!

My brother is a Specialist in the Army. He has already been to Iraq a couple of times.

Congrats to you and your son.... what an honorable decision! Your family makes me proud to be an American!

Congrats to your son! How very proud you must be :)

You should be proud. You have raised a fine son. Remember, the limb doesn't fall too far from the tree, and you have been that tree. Congratulations.

Those are two very large milestones in such a short amount of time. At least your son is taking a little time to enjoy his summer. I graduated on June 3rd and found myself in basic training on June 7th! I guess I didn't want to get cold feet!

Blogger Rebecca said ... (5/23/2007 5:14 PM) :

You should be very proud!

"From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli..."

My daddy was a Marine, so I know that song by heart and I'm sure you do too! I know you're so proud of your son.

He made it and so did you!

Semper Fi Matt!

Good luck. You must be super proud. And super scared. But let the proud far outweigh the fear.
