Y'all I'm really pissed, upset, wanting to bite a nail into.

Yesterday, I called Matt's recruiter to get his mailing address. The recruiter said

"I was just about to call you"

I laughed and said

"We are on the same brain wave today."

"Yes, I guess we are."

Here is how part of the conversation went...

"I don't want you to be alarmed or upset but we got a call from Matt's DI today. He had Matt in the office and Matt has expressed that he wants to come home."

"He wants to do what?!"

Matt said that he missed his family and friends... basically what it comes down to his that he is homesick and experiencing a major culture shock.

So here is his address. Please write and send him some encouragement. I have already sent him his birthday card yesterday and mailed him another letter this morning.
REMOVED - PLEASE SEND E-MAIL FOR ADDRESS

I am really worried and sick to my stomach. I'm praying hard that he will make his another week and a half. Then he should be ok.

Please remember letters only ... no packages of any kind. Sure don't want him to get in trouble with the DI ... especially after yesterday.

I'm with Bond. This is normal. Heck he just graduated from HS. I will get on this today. It'll be okay. They have had this happen often... I love you girlfriend. Have to go write a letter to Matt now. Big hugs and smooooooches.

This is normal...I hope he can get through it...we'll all send him notes and he'll be the king of the Marines with all of his letters...

Blogger Comedy + said ... (8/02/2007 9:58 AM) :

Letter is in the mailbox for pickup around noon. It is signed Sandee Clark. Love you girlfriend. :)

Yeah, I can't even imagine what he's going through... it must be so hard to have to adjust like that. What's funny is knowing that in a year you'll have to be fighting to get him home...lol.

Letter on the way.....

:-)

I'm on my way out to the mall; I'll pick up a card to send him and get it out later today.

Hang tough, mama - we'll all help him get through this, okay?

Blogger Tug said ... (8/02/2007 12:17 PM) :

He'll be OK Dix...& so will you! ((hugs)). Hang in there!

Blogger Angell said ... (8/02/2007 1:17 PM) :

I'm gonna send him a card too Dix - I'll mail it from Florida.

He'll be alright. I'm sure every single one of those men there, whether they admit it or not, are going through the very same thing.

HUGS AND SMOOCHES TO YA LUV.

Dixie:

He should be okay after a while. When my Austin first went to Iraq he was scared, he'd just had knee surgery and he wanted to come home so badly. Within two weeks he had completely turned around and now WANTS to stay in Iraq.

IF Matt does come home, maybe he could set a goal of going back in a year from now. He could get in a year of college and get a part time job.

This is nothing to be ashamed of --- it is natural. And you are such a close family that he's going to miss you all more than most.

Blogger Army Mom Times Three said ... (8/02/2007 3:26 PM) :

I mailed a card too.

Blogger Linda said ... (8/02/2007 3:48 PM) :

The first week is the toughest but hopefully he'll hang in there and make it through. It's a big change to go from high school and home to something as tough as the Marines but hopefully he'll be able to work past the homesickness and stick it out.

I'll be sending a card or note, too. Mail-call makes all the difference in the world!

Blogger Anndi said ... (8/02/2007 7:46 PM) :

Aww Sis.. I trust he'll end up where God intends.

**hugs**

Blogger Meribah said ... (8/02/2007 7:50 PM) :

He'll probably stick with it, but, even if he doesn't, don't feel badly. After all, he's still basically a kid who's trying to find his niche in the world. The Marines might be it or it might not be. Either way, I'm sure you will be supportive and show him all the love that he needs. Hugs!

Blogger Travis said ... (8/02/2007 8:27 PM) :

He just needs to listen to the DIs and focus on what they tell him to do.

He's barely 18, just graduated from high school, and totally out of his comfort zone. I'm sure he's not the only recruit having trouble adjusting.

Blogger Coco said ... (8/02/2007 9:37 PM) :

i'll say a prayer for Matt, that things get better for him and that he sticks it out. Hugs, Dixie.

Blogger Julie said ... (8/02/2007 11:07 PM) :

Well....i thought i typed some stuff.....where did it go?

Okay...go with the puppy! She's so smart!

I wrote his address down and I'll look for a card tomorrow and get it mailed! I have stamps!!!

Love ya baby and you'll love him no matter what he decides!

Blogger Matt-Man said ... (8/03/2007 10:03 AM) :

Damn...Good Luck to both of you guys. Hang in there Matt!!

Blogger Sarge Charlie said ... (8/04/2007 11:11 AM) :

The first week or so is always the hardest, it is a total change in you lifestyle over a 24 hour period, I am sure he will do fine.

Blogger the108 said ... (8/04/2007 1:41 PM) :

How you guys doing over there??

Thinking of you... smoooches!!

Blogger Turnbaby said ... (8/05/2007 1:16 PM) :
