The rollercoaster ride begins

A day that will always be a memory for me... July 23, 2007

One year ago, I sent my only son, my little boy, off to become a man. The out pouring of true friendship started here with a post from Bond over at the The Big Leather Couch and the post just started to come in from there.

Then I traveled over to Trav's and what do I see... another post ... here.

Oh my... what is going on here, I am thinking to myself. Who else is posting? What has my dear friend Vinny started here?

Oh lord, I don't want to leave anyone out here. So, let me try and refresh my memory... it has been a year you know.. ;-)

Then I find out that Kyra at The 108 has made this banner that a lot of people are flying... *I can't seem to find that post from Kyra in her archives.* But here is a picture of this banner that not only I, but alot of others in the blogsphere fly still to this day...

I then travel over to Sarge's and here is what I find that he has written and his beautiful wife Mrs Bee has chimed in as well.

Y'all just would NOT believe the tears that are rolling down my face by this time. Picture someone sitting in a hotel, on the hotel's computers and bawling like a baby... yup... that was me.

Oh The Songbird posted quickly before she headed off to read the new Harry Potter book. So did Linda from Are We There Yet and so did my fellow Tennessean Lois.

I could go on and on and I know that I've truly missed alot. If you posted, please let me know so I can go back and read them again.

So, what a rollercoaster ride it has been. It is a ride, however, that I will NOT be getting off any time soon.

Look over to the left and you will see a picture of me and Matt one year ago taken the day that he left for Parris Island. Here is a picture that was taken while we were in Virginia just a few weeks ago. Do you see any difference?

Yes, I am a Marine Mother ... I'm the softer side of the Corps...

IT'S HOT!!!

and that's no joke y'all.

I'm sitting here about to die from the heat ..not really die... but am in by bra and panties ONLY... ;-)

Will be working on a special post for this week. It has been almost one year since I sent my son off to Parris Island MCRD. Hard to believe...

Going to jump in the pool and try to cool off. Can't think for the heat.

Back from vacation

Yes, we made it back safely from Virginia Tuesday morning around 8:00 am. We had a wonderful weekend! I so wish that I could go back to last Thursday and start all over again. Needless to say, I cried when I saw Matt. Gosh darn it, I've really missed that young man.

I am hoping that you remembered that I cooked enough to feed the Marines. I wish you could have seen the look on their face when I opened the Tupperware bowl, 2 layers full, of lasagna. They told me that my lasagna was the best they had ever had. I swear I don't believe the Marine Corps feeds those boys... *giggles* and I don't believe my lasagna was the best ever. In my opinion it had to much garlic ... but anyways... they sure seemed to enjoy it.

Here is Matt and a couple of his buddies after they had scarfed down the lasagna. I don't think I've ever seen anybody eat as fast as those guys did.

And here are the happy Marines that had full bellies of lasagna...oh yeah and caramel cake and sweet tea. They were H-A-P-P-Y!!!!

Friday was the beach! Oh I could sooooooooooo be a beach bum... everything was perfect in every way... I decided right then and there that I would do one and only one post for HNT. Yes, you heard me right, I'm doing a HNT, Half Nekkid Thurday, so here see for yourself....HALF NEKKID THURSDAY .... ;-)

Will post more from my trip in my next post. I've got so much to do... I need a vacation to get over the vacation. I will play blog catch up soon.. I promise.
