Why can't kids be kids anymore, St. Louis Cardinals and More! I can't believe what I just read on Yahoo.... ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable. Recess is "a time when accidents can happen," said Willett Elementary School Principal Gaylene Heppe, who approved the ban. While there is no district wide ban on contact sports during recess, local rules have been cropping up. Several school administrators around Attleboro, a city of about 45,000 residents, took aim at dodgeball a few years ago, saying it was exclusionary and dangerous. Elementary schools in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Spokane, Wash., also recently banned tag during recess. A suburban Charleston, S.C., school outlawed all unsupervised contact sports. "I think that it's unfortunate that kids' lives are micromanaged and there are social skills they'll never develop on their own," said Debbie Laferriere, who has two children at Willett, about 40 miles south of Boston. "Playing tag is just part of being a kid." Another Willett parent, Celeste D'Elia, said her son feels safer because of the rule. "I've witnessed enough near collisions," she said. I remember playing tag, dodge ball, kick ball, tag football and many more games during recess. What has happened to those days. What are we trying to make our kids.... whimps? Of course, this is just my opinion.. What is yours? Kids today DO NOT know how to go outside and play. Basically, they don't know how to entertain themself. Growing up, I can remember going outside to play... playing tag with my brother and the neighbors kids... I can remember playing hide and seek... hiding so good that the only way they could find you was if you broke out in laughter because they were getting so mad that they couldn't find you. Making mud pies and if your brother or the neighbor kid pissed you off, you would put the pie on their head and rub it in.... oh, those were the days....... GO CARDS!!!!! ONE AWAY DUCKIE...... Legends tell of witches gathering twice a year when the seasons changed, on April 30 - the eve of May Day and the other was on the eve of October 31 - All Hallow's Eve. The witches would gather on these nights, arriving on broomsticks, to celebrate a party hosted by the devil. Superstitions told of witches casting spells on unsuspecting people, transform themselves into different forms and causing other magical mischief. It was said that to meet a witch you had to put your clothes on wrong side out and you had to walk backwards on Halloween night. Then at midnight you would see a witch. When the early settlers came to America, they brought along their belief in witches. In American the legends of witches spread and mixed with the beliefs of others, the Native Americans - who also believed in witches, and then later with the black magic beliefs of the African slaves.
